LegisClaims

LegisClaims is the land management / claims system within LegisCraft. It is a LegisCore module providing players and the government with tools to claim land, create regions, and it also has some investigative features. LegisClaims integrates with our map, making it easy to visualize individual claims and government regions.

Player / Personal Claims

What are Claims?

Claims are areas of land that are designated as belonging to a specific player. When you create a claim, you are reserving that land for yourself and marking it as "hey, this is mine!". Players are granted a specific number of claim blocks that is distributed by the government. By default, users may claim up to 2,000 m².

Claims ≠ Protection!

Because of the nature of the server, claiming your land DOES NOT stop or prevent other players from destroying, looting, stealing, or griefing your land. Instead, your recourse is to submit a complaint and have an investigation done to see who did the griefing and get them punished for it. Some Ministers may have rollback permissions to roleback any large-scale grief that has been done.

Claims extend from Y=0 to world height (Y=320). Players CANNOT claim land under Y=0, that is public domain and can be mined/used by anyone for any reason, unless there are specific laws or regulations that say otherwise.

Players may not create claims in the nether or the end, as those will be governed by statutes.

Creating Claims

You may begin the process of creating a claim by using /lc claim create <name> [hexColor]. This will provide you with a Claim Stick and some instructions on how to get started.

Steps

  1. Run /lc claim create
  2. Use the claim stick and right click two corners to define a rectangle. This will be displayed using a green outline. You may continue to add rectangles to expand your claim. Final claims do not have to be rectangles!
  3. When you are done with your selection, drop the Claim Stick to finalize it.
Irregular Shapes

Claims can be made up of multiple rectangles. You can just keep right clicking to add more corners and create various shapes. All rectangles must connect and be contiguous.

Expanding Claims

You can add to your claim by using /lc claim expand <claimName>. The process is identical to creating a claim as detailed above. The existing claim will appear in blue and the expansion area in green.

Claim Management

Claim Information

You can use /lc claim info [claimName] to view information about any claim. If you want to know about the claim you are standing in, omit the [claimname].

This will show the following information about a claim:

  • Claim Name and ID
  • Claim Owner
  • Claim Size (in m²)
  • Creation Date

Claims List

You can view all the claims owned either by you or another player by using /lc claim list [playerName].

Editing Claim Properties

You can edit either the name of your claim or its color (displayed on the map) by using /lc claim edit.

To edit the name of your claim, use /lc claim edit <claimName> name <newName>.

To edit the color of your claim, use /lc claim <claimName> color <color>.

Claim Colors

You can use any hex color in the format of #RRGGBB. The plugin or map will not recognize any other color format.

Deleting Claims

You can permanently delete your claim and gain those blocks back by using /lc claim delete <claimname>. Doing so will immediately unprotect your land and delete all investigative logs associated with it.

Transferring Claims

You can transfer your claim to other players by using /lc claim transfer <claimName> <playerName>. The player must have enough claim blocks available to take ownership of the claim.

Prospector's Hoe

The Prospector's Hoe is a tool that allows you to check if land is claimed as well as visual claim boundaries by right-clicking the ground. It will also tell you if the land is unclaimed (so that you can snatch it up!). It does not tell you if a an area is inside of a region, though.

You can use /lc claim hoe to obtain a Prospector's Hoe. But be careful, because each Hoe only has 25 uses (each right click counts as 1 use!) and you may only claim one Hoe per 10 minutes.

Container / Door Locks

You can lock or unlock specific blocks within your claim for security. Locked blocks cannot be interacted with unless you own the claim (or has bypass permissions), but they can be destroyed. Blocks that have been locked but broken will show up in the investigations log.

Locking Blocks

Using the Claims Key

The Claims Key is an item (A Golden Hoe) that can be used to lock/unlock blocks within your claims. It can be obtained by crafting it in any crafting grid (2x2 or 3x3) and is a shapeless recipe. The recipe is simply one stick and one golden ingot.

Simply right click the block you'd like to lock or unlock with the Claims Key.

Using the Lock Command

Alternatively, if you don't have a Claims Key, you can toggle a locked block by using /lc lock. Simply look at the block you'd like to toggle.

Regions

Regions are territories that are defined by the government, typically for government use (like regulations). They are typically managed by a specific Ministry, but not always. They will be distinct on the map and are typically larger than individual claims.

Creating Regions

Regions can be created by government officials with the appropriate permissions.

Polygon Mode Use /lc region create <name> [ministry] [hexColor] to start a polygon selection session, similar to creating a claim. You will be given a tool to select the corners of the region.

Rectangle Mode Alternatively, you can create a rectangular region using coordinates: /lc region create <name> <x1> <z1> <x2> <z2> [ministry]

Managing Regions

Editing Regions

You can modify region properties using /lc region edit <regionName|regionId> <property> <value>.

  • Name: /lc region edit <id> name <newName>
  • Ministry: /lc region edit <id> ministry <newMinistry>
  • Color: /lc region edit <id> color <hexColor>

Expanding Regions

To add more land to an existing region, use /lc region expand <regionName|regionId>. This works similarly to expanding a claim.

Deleting Regions

To permanently remove a region, use /lc region delete <regionId>.

Transferring Regions

Regions can be reassigned to a different ministry using /lc region transfer <regionName|regionId> <newMinistry>.

Region Information

  • List Regions: /lc region list [world] shows all regions in the specified world (or current world).
  • Region Info: /lc region info [regionName|regionId] displays detailed information about a region.

Landmarks

Landmarks are specific points of interest marked within the world. These can only be created by those who have specific permissions to do so.

Managing Landmarks

  • Create: /lc landmark create <name> creates a landmark at your current location.
  • Delete: /lc landmark delete <landmarkId> removes a landmark.
  • List: /lc landmark list [world] lists all landmarks in the world.

Investigations

LegisClaims includes an investigation system to help track activity within claims, such as block breaking, container access, and more. This is useful for identifying griefers or thieves.

Investigating

  • By Claim: /lc investigate <claimName> shows a log of events that occurred within a specific claim.
  • By Player: /lc investigate player <playerName> shows a log of actions performed by a specific player.
Permissions

Investigation commands require specific permissions (legiscraft.investigate.claim or legiscraft.investigate.player) and are typically restricted to government officials or investigators.

General

Contextual Info

You can use /lc info while standing in a claim or region to get information about it. You can also specify an ID: /lc info <claimName|regionId>.
